Under the name of "Open Hosei 21," Hosei University is working to strengthen its ties with the local community in order to return the university's intellectual assets not only to education and research on campus, but also to the community at large.
The Graduate School of Social Well-being Studies, Hosei University, has established the "Clinical Psychology Consultation Room" for local residents as a consultation room affiliated with the Graduate School of Social Well-being Studies Major in Clinical Psychology (Type 1), which is recognized by the Japanese Certification Board for Clinical Psychologists (JCB). The office provides clinical psychology consultation and assistance to local residents by a team of qualified clinical psychologists, graduate students, and other professional staff for counseling on non-attendance, withdrawal, mild depression, mild neurosis, child rearing, and various psychological tests. 
In addition, as a contribution to the community, we dispatch training counselors (graduate students) as volunteer psychological staff (student counselors, day care assistant therapists, telephone counselors, educational counselors, etc.) to elementary and junior high schools, day care centers, nursery schools, educational consultation centers, and child consultation offices in Machida, Hachioji, and Tama cities. When implementing facility improvement projects (new construction, repair, renovation, etc.), Hosei University formulates and implements construction plans in accordance with the standards and policies stipulated in various ordinances and regulations of government agencies and municipalities.
Hosei University has established Volunteer Centers on three campuses to promote student volunteer activities and provide support for such activities, with the promotion of social contribution as one of its objectives.
