Creative Writing Research Program

Major in Japanese Literature

Program Outline

The Creative Writing Research Program is an educational program in the Department of Japanese Literature (hereinafter referred to as "Major in Japanese Literature") of the Graduate School of Humanities. In this program, students learn to create creative expressions through actual creative writing. Students can learn the process of creating a fresh sensitivity and creative spirit appropriate to the times from the broad perspective of creation in society. This educational program is not designed to train creative people in the narrow sense of the word. It is an educational program that not only teaches students to produce literary works (novels, poetry, criticism, and plays), but also to study and examine the various issues involved in the process of publishing these works, and to acquire the specialized knowledge to construct culture from a broad perspective.
The program offers a wide variety of subjects, such as understanding the mechanism of creating literary works by alternating the submission of works and creative critiques, inviting leading writers to study works with the writers themselves, deepening knowledge of copyright and cultural administration, and considering the creation of works from an editor's point of view. The program offers a wide variety of subjects, such as research on works with the writers themselves.
