On Tuesday, July 26, 2022, Haruna Mizukawa, a second-year student at the Faculty of Lifelong Learning and Career Studies, who won the 56th All-Japan Women's Kendo Student Championship, along with Professor Masashi Takefu ( Faculty of Law ), head of the Kendo Club, Mitsuhiro Yoda ( Faculty of Letters graduate), coach, and Takumi Sawano ( Faculty of Letters graduate), women's coach, visited President Katsuya Hirose and reported on the results of the tournament. The team reported on their performance in the tournament.
Mizukawa won the All Japan Women's Kendo Student Championship held at the Nippon Budokan on Saturday, July 2. Mizukawa won the championship for the second year in a row, following her victory in the 55th tournament last December. Mizukawa is the fifth student in 15 years to win back-to-back championships in the same tournament, and the first for the university.
Mizukawa expressed his enthusiasm, "The competition will continue in the future, so I will not be satisfied with this result, but will devote myself to achieving even higher goals.
In response to Mizukawa's report, President Hirose said, "I would like to express my respect not only for the consecutive championships, but also for her daily efforts to improve her skills. I look forward to seeing an even stronger Mizukawa-san in the future.
