On June 1 (Wed.), Mr. Yoshiaki Hikita, columnist and communication consultant, will give a lecture at Hosei University's Extracurricular Education Program, "Improving your communicative ability! Lecture on the Power of Chatting Starting in Spring" was held at Hosei University on Wednesday, June 1.
The program featured a lecture by Yoshiaki Hita, a speechwriter and columnist who has given numerous lectures on communication and speaking at universities, elementary and junior high schools, corporations, and government agencies to strengthen the "power of words" in people.
After a lecture on communication innovations and tips on chatting, the course was designed to eliminate the sense of difficulty in communication by providing many opportunities for practical discussions in groups of four to five people, without setting a specific theme.
The goal was for the participating students to be able to converse effectively by attending this project.
In the first half of the lecture, the lecturer introduced the importance of greetings and easy-to-practice chatting skills training methods, and then talked about how to deal with interruptions and how to get the other person to talk. The content of the lecture was very interesting, and it was impressive to see the students taking notes and asking questions.
The second half was a practical group discussion. It was impressive to see how the students, who seemed a little nervous during the lecture, seemed to enjoy the conversation by utilizing the knowledge about communication that they had gained in the first half of the lecture.
Mr. Hikita also commented that it was wonderful that the students voiced their reactions in between chats, and I was glad that we were able to create an opportunity for them to feel anew that chats are fun.
Through this program, students learned various communication devices and skills. We hope that in their future classes and job-hunting activities, the students will realize that they can have smooth conversations simply by changing their mindset instead of thinking that they are not good at conversing.
