On February 15, a ceremony was held at the Sagamihara Municipal Industrial Hall to present certificates for the "2023 Sagamihara City Volunteer Certification System for Community and Civic Activities," and three SIC student project groups received certificates from the university.
Under the "Sagamihara City Volunteer Certification System for Community and Civic Activities," which is based on the comprehensive cooperation agreement concluded with Sagamihara City, Sagamihara City certifies and presents certificates to individuals and groups that have actively participated in public interest activities and contributed to the promotion of the welfare of local residents and improvement of civic life. The University concluded a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Sagamihara City in FY2020, and this is the first year that the University has been certified under this certification system.
The following is an overview of this year's certified organizations and their activities.
The Makino Genki Sousei Kai is working with the members of the Makino Genki Sousei Kai to maintain Yamanami Park located in the former Fujino Town. Throughout the year, they plant and care for lawn cherry trees. Through their activities, they aim to give Yamanami Park a role as a community garden, and contribute to making the park a place of relaxation for the local community and to revitalizing the community.

In cooperation with the Sano River Area Revitalization Association, this group is working to revitalize tea fields that have become abandoned and to prevent the creation of new abandoned fields. He also promotes the attractiveness of the Sano River area in areas such as Wakabadai residence in Midori Ward, Sagamihara City.

With the concept of "discovering and communicating the new charms of the Shiroyama area," this project is a collaboration between elementary schools and universities to "communicate the charms of satoyama" during the integrated study period with 4th grade classes 1 and 2 at Hirota Elementary School in Sagamihara City. In addition, he is a member of the committee for a collaborative project to create an e-bike tour of the Shiroyama area using Shiroyama Nature House as a sightseeing gate, and participates in the Lake Tsukui Summer Festival as a member of the executive committee. He also participates in local events and interacts with multiple generations.
