The women's rugby team of Rimi Takahashi, a fourth-year student in the Department of Community Development, and Mao Ishida, a third-year student in the same department, won the top position in Japan for the second consecutive year.

The final of the "10th National Women's Rugby Football Championship" was held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, and the Tokyo Sankyu Phoenix, to which Rimi Takahashi (4th year, Department of Community Development, Sano Seminar) and Mao Ishida (3rd year, Sano Seminar) belong, became the number one team in Japan for the second consecutive year.
The opposing team featured world-class players, including representatives from New Zealand and Australia. Takahashi, who overcame injury to become one of the starting members of the team, and Ishida, who supported the team, commented as follows

Thank you for all the support. I am very happy that we were able to win the championship for the second year in a row in a wonderful environment with the support of many people, including my family, friends, and fans. I am proud of the team that was able to achieve the best result with all the members united as one despite the big change in the members from last year. I am very happy to have achieved two consecutive national championships in the 15-man team! I think we were able to win this championship because we worked as a team and improved our level in each game. We will work hard for another year so that we can win the championship again next year for the third year in a row! Also, you don't have to be familiar with the rules to enjoy watching rugby, so I hope many people will watch the games!
