Kazuaki Kita (real name: Shoichi Shimodaira, November 14, 1934 - October 19, 2012), a graduate of Hosei University's Faculty of Social Sciences, was an anti-nuclear and anti-war artist in the 1980s and 1990s who focused on themes including Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Okinawa, Nanking, Auschwitz, and Three Mile Island. The monument in front of the Faculty of Social Sciences building and the relief "Dream" on the second floor of the Faculty of Social Sciences building are his works, which were created when the Tama Campus was opened.

This year, 10 years after his death, a memorial service in his honor will be held by volunteers including those related to the university, and this exhibition will be held as a part of the service.

We hope that this exhibition will be an opportunity for our younger students to think about nuclear power, nuclear weapons, and world peace.
