The Ohara Institute of Social Studies of Hosei University (Machida City, Tokyo; Director: Rei Suzuki) will hold the 33rd International Labor Issues Symposium "From the COVID-19 Crisis to a Better Future of Work: Industry-Specific Initiatives and Social Dialogue" via online (Zoom webinar) on Wednesday, December 2.
The COVID-19 crisis has affected workers and employers worldwide, threatening economic activity and livelihoods. The ILO provided an overview of the COVID-19 crisis by industry. This symposium will consider the differences in the COVID-19 crisis by industry and the characteristics of the response, with a particular focus on the garment industry and its specific realities.
The COVID-19 threat is an unprecedented crisis that can only be resolved through global solidarity. Effective social dialogue between labor and government will lead to better solutions and help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and we look forward to the participation of many people, including students and citizens, as well as labor and government, in order to link the COVID-19 crisis to a better future of work.
