In 1997, Hosei University installed one of the most advanced information network systems among private universities, using high-speed and stable technology. At the same time, the existing Computing Center was reorganized to establish the Hosei University Comprehensive Information Center in order to improve the environment for using computers and network systems, and to support education and research in response to advanced information technology.
In 1998, Hosei University established Information Centers at the Ichigaya, Tama, and Koganei campuses to provide information education and research support for students, faculty, and staff at each campus.
In order to cope with the rapid increase in network traffic, the Information Technology Center periodically reviews its network infrastructure.

Remote lecture and conference systems have been installed in the main hall and some classrooms on each campus, equipping them with systems capable of conducting remote lectures and conferences. In addition, wireless LAN access points have been installed on each campus, allowing laptop computers and other devices to be connected to the network for educational and research purposes. In addition, the entire university has introduced convenient tools for taking online lectures.
Each student in the College of Science and Engineering and the Graduate School of Science and Engineering is loaned a laptop computer until graduation, which is used freely and extensively for student study, research, and information gathering.
Students can use the computers installed in the Information Cafeteria and the practical training rooms for class assignments and self-study. Wireless LAN access points and information outlets are also available on campus, allowing students to use the network for education and research. The Faculty of Science and Engineering lends laptop computers with software installed on them equivalent to the computers in the information classrooms to students so that they can engage in study and research evenings and on holidays.
