Hosei University has always been in the top ranks of the Kanto Student Yachting Championship and All Japan Yachting Championship, and has also won the All Japan Student Women's Yachting Championship overall, and has produced many winners. 2005 saw Reiko Takahashi and Naoko Kamata win Japan's first silver medal at the Universiade World Championships in the 470 class women's event, and in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Naoko Kamata competed, and Yugo Yoshida competed in the 2012 London Olympics. Naoko Kamata competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and Yugo Yoshida competed in the 2012 London Olympics. Many alumni are active in the sailing world, including Toshio Yamada as Vice-Chairman of the Japan Sailing Federation's Special Olympic Committee, Hiroki Hidaka as a representative at the illusive Moscow Olympics, and Seiichi Fujisawa as a coach at the Atlanta Olympics.

 In 2005, the 470 class women's yacht won the Universiade World Championships in the Universiade for women, and in 2006, the 470 class women's yacht won the World Championships in the Universiade for women, led by Reiko Takahashi, Nao Kamata, and Nao Nakata. In 2005, Reiko Takahashi and Naoko Kamata won Japan's first silver medal at the Universiade World Championships in the women's 470 class, Naoko Kamata competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and Yugo Yoshida competed at the 2012 London Olympics. Toshio Yamada was the Vice-Chairman of the Olympic Special Committee of the Japan Sailing Federation, and Hiroki Hidaka was the substitute for him at the illusive Moscow Olympics.
