Club Introduction

The skating club boasts a long history and tradition, and is showing increasing success by winning the overall championship in the three men's divisions for the fifth time in two years at the 2015 Intercollegiate Skating Championships.

Ice Hockey Division

A prestigious team that leads the Japanese ice hockey world. The team has won the Kanto University Championship 19 times. 14 times in the same league championship. The team has won 13 intercollegiate championships.
The team has produced a large number of talented players and top-level coaches. Many alumni have competed in the Olympics in the past, and Sena Suzuki and Ayaka Toko were selected as members of the Japanese women's national team for the 2014 Sochi Olympics. In addition to extensive ice and track training, the team promotes its own "Orange Project" and aims to become a unique and independent team. The team name is Orange Seals. The name "SEALS" refers to the "Aashiro" or "sea lion.

Speed Division

Founded in June 1936, the team boasts a long history and tradition in the speed division of the skating club, and its activities have made a significant contribution to the Japanese skating world.
At the "Sarajevo Olympics" in February 1984, Kinhiro Kitazawa won the first silver medal in Japanese skating history, and at the 1986 World Sprint Championships, Yukihiro Mitani won the gold medal in the 1,000 meters, paving the way for the success of Japanese speed skating. Kinhiro Kitazawa was a starter at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

Figure Division

  • Member of the Japan Student Ice Federation

The figure division is steeped in tradition and honor with numerous records and history. Many alumni and alumnae have competed in the Winter Olympics, World Championships, and other competitions, achieving brilliant results. Yuka Sato and Takeshi Honda are graduates of the Figure Division, and Yosuke Takeuchi participated in the Sochi 2014 Olympics as a national team coach. Keeping this tradition alive, the current members of the Figure Division are also active in the sport.
