As shown above, six graduates from the Faculty of Sports and Health Studies have received unofficial offers to represent Tokyo at the Tokyo Olympics.
On Friday, July 2, it was announced that Yuta Bando, an athlete in the 5,000m track and field event, has received an unofficial offer!
Bando has achieved the 7th place in Japan's all-time record of 13:18.49 (a new personal record) in the same event at the Japan Championships and Long Distance on December 4, 2020.
On the same day, Masaki Toyoda was also selected as an alternate in the 400m hurdles.
At the 105th Japan Athletics Championships held on Sunday, June 27, Taio Kanai became the first athlete to be selected for the Olympic team in the men's 110m hurdles.
In a high-level competition in which four athletes, including Kanai, cleared the participation standard record (13.32 seconds), Kanai earned his spot with a second-place finish in 13.22 seconds.
On Sunday, July 4, Kanai also held an open practice session at the Tama Campus of the University.
On Tuesday, June 22, the Japan Football Association announced the 18 members of Japan's U24 (under-24) men's national team, and one of them was Kise Ueda, who became the first player to be selected for the Tokyo Olympics.
Ueda also contributed to the team's victory against Ghana on Saturday, June 5, scoring a goal and assisting once. His first Olympic game will be against South Africa on Thursday, July 22.
In triathlon, Yuko Takahashi was selected as a candidate for Japan's national triathlon team for the Tokyo Olympics on Tuesday, June 22.
Takahashi is a high-profile athlete who has won the 25th Japan Triathlon Championships in October 2020 with a time of 1 hour, 59 minutes and 12 seconds for the second year in a row.
In artistic swimming, Akane Yanagisawa (Akane Yanagisawa) has already been selected to represent Tokyo Olympic Games in 2019.
Yanagisawa's first competition will be the Team Technical Routine on Friday, August 6!
Please keep an eye on Bando, Kanai, Ueda, Takahashi, Yanagisawa, and Toyoda for more action in the future!
