On January 27, the Nohgaku Research Institute held a presentation ceremony for the 43rd Hisao Kanze Memorial Hosei University Nohgaku Prize, the 31st Jyoka Prize, and the 30th Jyoka Prize. Due to the season, the banquet was cancelled.
The Hosei University Nohgaku Prize was established by Hosei University in June 1979, based on a donation from his bereaved family, to commemorate the achievements in the Noh world of Hisao Kanze, a Noh actor of the Kanze school who embodied Zeami's philosophy of flowers and always questioned "What is Noh? It is awarded to researchers, critics, and Noh actors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and stage performance, as well as to individuals and organizations that have contributed to the promotion of Noh drama, and is presented annually on the Seisetsu Memorial Day, the anniversary of his death.
The prize was established in April 1988 based on the "Hattori Memorial Hosei University Nohgaku Promotion Donation" established in commemoration of the donation of the "Kanze Shinkuro Family Collection" and is awarded to performers who have made outstanding achievements over many years in the development of Nohgaku and the training of its successors, research on the three roles in Nohgaku (musical accompaniment, waki-kata, kyogenkata), and other activities, as well as individuals or groups that have contributed to the promotion and popularization of Nohgaku. The awards are given to individuals or groups that have made outstanding contributions to the development of Nohgaku and the fostering of its successors.
Both awards are highly acclaimed year after year, and the selection process is one of the Institute's projects.
The winners for the year 2021 are as follows.

The 31st Yohka Prize ... Mr. Ukon Miyake and Japan Deaf Theatre Company
This year's presentation ceremony was held in conjunction with the ceremony that was canceled last year.
