On October 25, the Social Innovation Center (SIC) hosted the third SIC Café, "Let's Talk about the Continuation of the Tama Region Formation Theory! was held at the Social Innovation Center (SIC).
The SIC Café was created as a place for students and the community to learn together and "talk" with invited guests.
The third event was held as an extension of the "Tama Region Formation Theory," which is offered during the fourth period on Wednesdays in the fall semester, inviting as guests Ms. Neiko Kawakami, who promotes urban revitalization at Hachioji City Hall, Ms. Nahoko Kamata (NPO Tsunagubazukuri), who works on "creating places to stay" within Hachioji City, and Ms. Michiko Numazaki (Maho no Hoki). The event was held as an extension of "Tama Region Formation Theory," which is offered on Wednesdays during the fourth period of the fall semester. Ten people participated in the event, including students taking Tama Region Formation Theory, students active in the SIC, and residents of the Tategaoka housing complex near the Tama Campus.
After a brief review of the lectures given by the three guests at the Tama Region Formation Theory, SIC coordinator Mr. Motono served as a facilitator as the participants shared various views and opinions, transcending generations and positions, on what motivated them to get involved in their respective activities.
In particular, the students who are working on the theme of "creating a place to stay" as an SIC student project reported that they had actually participated in activities in Hachioji as a result of this café, so that they could connect this to hints for their own activities.
We would like to develop the SIC Café into a place not only for discussion of topics presented by guests, but also for networking and creating space for further activities that will lead to the challenge of further activities. Please look forward to future SIC Cafés!
