Hosei University and BTC Commence Joint Research on "The Influence of App-Based High-Intensity Interval Training at Home on Breast Cancer Survivors' Fatigue

In this research, BTC will be the first in the world to provide instructional videos on how to perform high-intensity, short-duration, intermittent exercise training (HIIT) using one's own body weight at home or other living places at the convenience of the breast cancer survivor herself, and to conduct research on the effects of HIIT on exercise habits and A web application will be developed to evaluate exercise habits and quality of life (QOL) in daily life situations. In addition, health and medical data will be collected by a watch-type wearable device worn on the wrist.

This will enable individual breast cancer survivors to be motivated to exercise and self-monitor their health data, and healthcare professionals to share objective data through the acquired patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and the wearable device, enabling them to notify and instruct patients at the appropriate time. Hosei University's OCHI Eisuke Laboratory conducts research in the field of health and sports science, particularly from the perspective of exercise physiology and biochemistry. The laboratory is also collaborating with the National Cancer Center, Cancer Institute Hospital, Kanagawa University of Health and Welfare, and National College of Nursing to develop an exercise program (HIIT) for cancer patients and survivors. The project aims to deliver a useful program for cancer patients and survivors with support from the Japanese Breast Cancer Society and breast cancer survivors.
