Available Period and Hours of Operation

The library is open on all days except July, January, and March 25-31. Please refer to the library schedule below.

  • On the days when the service is suspended, the reserved materials will not be available even if they become available for viewing. Please be aware of this.

Issuance of library card

Please present your university ID or student ID when you visit the library for the first time. You will be issued a library card, which is required to enter the library and borrow books free of charge.
If you do not have an ID or student ID, please bring a letter of introduction from your university library.

  • Library cards cannot be issued or renewed with expired ID cards or student ID cards. Please be aware of this.

Library card expiration date

  • For those who are in the 4th year of undergraduate school, those who are in the final year of graduate school, non-degree students, part-time lecturers, and others with a single-year contract:
    → End of February of the current academic year
  • For other than the above:
    → March 24 of the current year
  • In case of loss, defacement, etc., the library will reissue the book for 500 yen (cashless payment only).

Contents of service

Materials available for borrowing

Books held by the library (when searching OPAC, the location of the book is indicated as "city:000", " multi-:000", " small:000"). Maximum of 10 books for 2 weeks.

  • You can reserve materials on loan, extend the loan (once), and request materials from other campuses through the OPAC above.
Materials that can only be browsed in the library (i.e., cannot be checked out)

Journals (When searching OPAC, the location is displayed as "serial"), government publications (When searching OPAC, the location is displayed as "government publication").
Materials from faculty reference rooms and research institutes*.

  • You must apply in person at the counter. Please note that some materials may not be available on the day of use. If you want to make sure that you can use the materials, please make a "holdings inquiry" through your university library in advance.
Photocopies

Self-service. Coin-operated and card-operated copy machines are available. Photocopying exceeding the provisions of the Copyright Act is not allowed.

Services that require advance notice

  • If you wish to place a hold on materials, please request a holdings check at your university library in advance. Please note that materials placed on hold cannot be checked out from the library.
  • Rare and semi-precious books (including those in microfilm format) require permission to browse from the University Library.

Services not available

  • You cannot enter the stacks (Ichigaya and Tama).
  • Use of computers other than OPAC-dedicated computers
  • CD-ROMs, online databases, e-books, e-journals

  • Learning Commons (Ichigaya/Tama)
