Data is maintained by the Administrative Management Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications based on the Official Gazette, and can be searched by law name, abbreviated law title, law number, and promulgation date. However, only laws that have already been enacted can be searched.
Search is available for existing laws, repealed laws, enacted laws, draft laws, and treaty approval cases. Cross-search is also possible.
Enacted laws are available to the public. Displayed by session.
Bills and enacted laws submitted to the Diet are available. Bills can be searched by session and field.
Full texts of treaties submitted to the Diet by the government since 2002 and recently signed treaties and other related materials are available.
Current treaties approved by the Diet can be searched by treaty title, category by subject, region, country, etc.

All promulgated laws and regulations are extracted from the Official Gazette and compiled in order of promulgation date.
The Official Gazette is the fastest way to obtain information on promulgated laws and regulations. The Supreme Court (December 28, 1957) has ruled that laws are promulgated in the Official Gazette.
