| Research Outline | The emergence of social media and smartphones has drastically changed the mass media environment centered on TV and newspapers. People's messages are accumulated in the architecture as huge data, creating filter bubbles and fake news. It has become difficult for companies to accurately convey information. With the imminent arrival of the Internet of Things (IoT) society, where everything is connected to the Internet, it is expected that not only smartphones, but also home appliances, cars, and other objects related to daily life will become media. People's lives will be recorded and collected, and they will receive information from numerous architectures surrounding their lives, each optimized for their own algorithms, which could lead to an even more excessive and fragmented media environment. On the other hand, this is an opportunity to reweave and redesign architecture in a human-centered manner. The purpose of this institute is to design a media environment that is easy for people to live in and to be socially connected. To this end, we will collaborate with researchers and companies in related fields to develop research and analysis methods to capture the IoT-like media environments that are emerging, and prototyping and workshops to enable human-centered redesign of these media environments. |
