Research Field Research on distribution and marketing theories based on ecological concepts and industry-academia collaboration
Research Outline The economy and management have been based on "growth and development" in the past, but we are now at a turning point where we need to build a "sustainable" and "recycling-oriented society" from the overall perspective of environmental issues and the finite nature of resources. In terms of sustainability, the natural ecosystem is the most excellent system model. Learning from it, the creation of sustainable production and distribution systems has become an extremely important issue for all industries, regardless of their size or type of business. In the field of distribution and marketing, for example, it is essential that commercial facilities such as shopping centers and large-scale stores be built in consideration of resource conservation, energy conservation, and the surrounding environment, and that they coexist with the local community.
In the field of ecology-related technologies, research on microorganisms has been advancing in recent years, and it has become clear that microorganisms are involved in all material cycles in the ecosystem and that, for example, the use of useful microorganisms (EM) can artificially draw out the inherent harmony mechanisms of the ecosystem, thereby enabling production and consumption activities without placing an excessive burden on the ecosystem. It has also become clear that once polluted or destroyed, ecosystems and the surrounding environment can be restored and preserved.
While there is a need to deeply incorporate ecological thinking into marketing, it is also necessary to introduce a marketing perspective when thinking about ecosystems and their implementation. In other words, ecosystems and marketing are like two wheels on a cart, and each should be developed in cooperation and fusion with the other. Based on this perspective, the main purpose of this special project research institute is to propose models of corporate and social activities that reflect a sustainable system based on harmony and symbiosis in economic activities rooted in the daily lives of people, companies, and local communities, and to investigate and research case studies.
