On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, the "Hosei University Rooftop Gardening Maintenance Project" will hold its fifth project, "August Garden vs. Beloved Garden at Hosei University full of Kodawari".
On campus, regular examinations have been successfully completed and the summer vacation period has begun in earnest. Now is the season for "green curtains," including the "vegetable garden plot" that has been in preparation since this spring, to grow, for "killifish" to swim in the gourd pond, and for "dragonflies" to come to visit. In the project, we will plant plants selected under the theme of "August Garden," with an awareness of the biotope network from the Imperial Palace, Kitanomaru Park, Yasukuni Shrine to Sotobori Park, maintain the "Beloved Garden at Hosei University," observe nature and measure the effects of rooftop gardening on the organisms living in the garden. The project is scheduled to be completed in March 2022.
In March 2022, the Hosei University Rooftop Gardening Maintenance Project, for which the Hosei University Environmental Center serves as the secretariat, won a prize in the "2021 Chiyoda Biodiversity Awards" sponsored by Chiyoda Ward for its efforts to create "Hosei University's Beloved Garden" that is conscious of the biotope network in the "outer moat" spanning Chiyoda and Shinjuku wards. The garden won a prize in the "2021 Chiyoda Biodiversity Grand Prize" sponsored by Chiyoda Ward.
This summer, too, we need to pay attention to the spread of new coronavirus infection and prevention of heat stroke. We will aim to prevent global warming and lead a fulfilling campus life in a "healthy" manner, remembering to be "comfortable" while adjusting our "body temperature" through "UCHIMIZU", one of the traditional Japanese cultures, and "clothing".
We look forward to seeing you all at the "Beloved Garden at Hosei University"!
During the summer vacation, the Environmental Center takes the lead in maintaining the "Beloved Garden at Hosei University".
