 On November 8, 2021 (Monday), Hosei University's 22nd Environmental Exhibition "You are the one who will take the leading role from Ekopyon this fall" was held on the University's Environmental Center Website! ~The lecture was held in cooperation with the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI), Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).
 COP26 is currently being held in Glasgow, U.K., with climate change as the main topic of discussion. The 22nd Environmental Exhibition, which will be held at TUFS, was organized by the GSI, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Global Environment Partnership Plaza (GEOC), Tokyo Metropolitan Environmental Foundation, Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Global Warming Prevention Activity Promotion Center (nicknamed "Cool! (GEOC), the Tokyo Metropolitan Environmental Public Corporation (TEPCO), the Tokyo Center for Climate Change Action (Cool Net Tokyo), the Shinjuku Municipal Environmental Study Information Center (Eco Gallery Shinjuku), the Chiyoda Eco-System Promotion Council (CES), and the Hosei University Co-op, we will introduce some of the results of our education and research into the clarification and solution of social and economic problems including global environmental issues and the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).  The theme of "Geospatial Information" was "Mystery of the Earth we live on," and the lecturer, Mr. Takenori Sato, Director of Geospatial Information Planning Office, Geographical Survey Institute, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, gave a lecture on natural disasters such as earthquake, volcano, wind, and flood disasters.
 Geospatial information" is an important science and technology that is expected to be utilized in the future society for observation of natural phenomena such as earthquakes and floods, identification of topography and disaster risks, and crime prevention, as information on and associated with locations (places) collected by satellites. We hope that this event will be an opportunity for students to become aware of the connection between their individual "actions" in their university life and "nature" and to participate in efforts to solve global environmental problems.

  • The lecture was given by Mr. Souki Sato, Director, Geospatial Information Planning Office, Geospatial Information Planning Department, Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI).
