Notices
The Green Terrace is a rooftop garden created on the fourth floor of the Boissonade Tower in the spring of 2005, with student participation in all aspects of the project, from planning and design to construction and maintenance.
In March 2020, the "Hosei University Rooftop Gardening Maintenance Project" received the "13th Shinjuku Eco One Grand Prix, Group Category, Award of Excellence" for its efforts to make the "outer moat," which straddles Shinjuku and Chiyoda wards, a "beloved garden at Hosei University" that is comfortable for humans and other living things.
In FY2020, with the aim of becoming a "REAL GARDENER," the garden aims to become "the most beloved garden at Hosei University," a habitat and growing space for trees, plants, and other living things including birds and butterflies that visit the garden.
Currently, access to the "Green Terrace" is restricted due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, so the staff of the Environmental Center takes the lead in watering, weeding, and other upkeep of the garden. This year, birds and butterflies have completely taken up residence and are spending their time looking cozy.
The first phase of the project will be a selection and replanting of flower seedlings, bulbs, and seeds on the "Green Terrace" under the theme of "A REAL GARDENER versus a beloved garden at Hosei University filled with persistence," and "nature observation" with an awareness of the biotope network connected to the Imperial Palace, Kitanomaru Park, Yasukuni Shrine, and Outer Moat Park. The project is scheduled to be held in the near future. Those interested in the project are welcome to participate.
Participants will be presented with a limited edition rooftop greening maintenance project member badge and "Ekopyon goods".
This year, while paying close attention to preventing the spread of new coronavirus infection, let's make "a special autumn to further savor Hosei" by participating in "A REAL GARDENER versus a beloved garden at Hosei University filled with persistence".
