President Yuko Tanaka presents a letter of appreciation to the Athletic Association Yacht Club for their lifesaving efforts.

On Wednesday, July 26, Hosei President Yuko Tanaka presented a letter of appreciation to the Athletic Association Yacht Club for saving a life at the Kudan School Building.

The ceremony was attended by Yoshiaki Kamiyama, Director of the Athletic Yacht Club, Sotaro Hayami (1st year, Department of EconomicsFaculty of Economics ) and Rui Watanabe (1st year, Department of Sports and Health StudiesFaculty of Sports and Health Studies ), who were actually involved in the rescue operation. The university President, Kiyoyuki Kondo, Executive Trustee, and Masayuki Masuda, director of the Ichigaya Physical Education Section of the Health and Physical Education Department, were also in attendance. Before the presentation of the certificate of appreciation, a report on the rescue situation was given.

On that day (July 1), the Kanto Student Yachting Individual Championship was being held off the coast of Enoshima, and Mr. Hayami and Mr. Watanabe were on board a rescue boat to support the event. They saw a person fall from the Enoshima breakwater about 500 meters away and see a spray of water. He rushed straight to the scene and rescued a first grader who was drowning and his father who had jumped into the water to save his child.

Although this case was not reported in the media because the quick rescue operation saved the day, the parents wrote to the university, "We really want to express our gratitude to you. However, the parents called the university and said, "We would like to express our gratitude to you and would like to know your contact information so that we can write a letter to the yacht club.

President presented a letter of appreciation to Mr. Hayami and Mr. Watanabe in recognition of their calm judgment and actions, as well as the daily training of the Athletic Association Yacht Club.
