Notices

Hosei University's (President: HIROSE Katsuya) "Mathematics, Data science, and AI Program (MDAP: Mathematics, Data science, and AI Program)" has been accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) for "Mathematics, Data science, and AI Education Program Accreditation System (Applied Basic Level) The program has been accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan.

Hosei University has established the "Hosei University Mathematics, Data science, and AI Program (MDAP: Mathematics, Data science, and AI Program)" as a subject common to all faculties in order to develop human resources who can create new values by learning data science and AI beyond the framework of existing faculties and departments, and contribute to building a sustainable society. The program is designed to nurture human resources who can contribute to building a sustainable society, and is common to all faculties.
Following the "Literacy Level" accredited last August, the "Applied Basics Level" was accredited in August 2023 as a program under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "Mathematics, Data Science, and AI Education Program (Applied Basics Level)" accreditation system.

Key Points of the Project

  • Hosei University's program has been accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology ( MEXT ) as a "Program Accreditation System for Mathematics, Data Science, and AI Education (Applied Basic Level)" ( announced on the MEXT website on August 25, 2023).
  • This program aims to develop human resources who can create new values and contribute to building a sustainable society by expanding the scope of students' learning through studying MDAP courses offered by the Data Science Center in addition to undergraduate studies for solving social issues that are becoming more complex and diverse.
  • Upon completion of the program, students receive an open badge (certificate) as a digital certificate to visualize their learning outcomes.
  • The Applied Fundamentals Level is offered in all faculties (except Information Science) as a university-wide common education platform program with a view to linking it with specialized courses. In addition, the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences has its own program consisting of courses offered by the faculty that include more specialized content.

◆Full on-demand learning that transcends time and space
Classes of the university-wide program are offered on full on-demand basis. A key feature of this system is that students at the Ichigaya, Tama, and Koganei campuses can learn at their own pace, without the space of a classroom or the class time constraints of a timetable. This is a new experiment that is part of the University's Hosei DX Initiative Project (a project under the Vice President to promote the DX-ization of the University's educational activities).

◆Open badge (certificate) to visualize achievements
Upon completion of the program, students will receive certificates (literacy level and basic application level) as digital certificates (open badges) as proof of completion. These certificates are expected to be used for job hunting and graduate school admission.

◆Hosei University Data Science Center
Hosei University has established the "Hosei University Data Science Center" to manage and quality assure MDAP courses. In addition to program management, the Center conducts various activities such as student outreach and events to promote "Practical wisdom education," which is the university's goal, by connecting students and society through data science and AI.

  • MDAP Open Badge

  • Hosei University's "Mathematics, Data Science and AI Program (MDAP) Applied Basic Level" is accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) as an "Accreditation System for Mathematics, Data Science and AI Education Program (Applied Basic Level)". *Accreditation expiration date: March 31, 2028
