On Monday, May 22, "International Student Exchange Party" was held at Tama Campus.
Seventy-seven students attended the party, 25 of whom were international students. Students from other campuses and graduate students also participated, making the event rich in diversity.

On the day of the event, the Tama Campus international exchange circle "FiTus" organized recreational activities to deepen exchanges. Participants were randomly divided into groups, and each group played self-introduction games and fruit basket. Fruit basket, which is familiar to Japanese students, was a new experience for many of the international students. They seemed to be able to enjoy playing while students in the same group gave them lectures.
In the final "Find a Pair Game," the top winner was presented with original goods from the university, and the venue was filled with excitement.

This exchange party provided an opportunity for students to get to know each other better, regardless of nationality, and especially for new students to make new friends at the university.

Comments from students

From a FiTus (planning group) member

We have been holding this event every year, but this year we were able to hold it on a larger scale than last year because of the convergence of the Coronas.

We basically divided the participants into groups for games to facilitate interaction, played a self-introduction game to break the ice, a fruit basket game to let the participants experience Japanese culture, and a game to find a pair to deepen the friendship between individuals. We were filled with joy to receive many positive comments about how many friends they had made in the questionnaire we compiled at the time of the event. FiTus will continue to provide opportunities for international and Japanese students to interact with each other, and we hope that you will join us for future events.

From a participating international student

The exchange event I participated in as an international student was a valuable experience for me to deepen my connection with other participants through fun games.
First, in the "reverse self-introduction game," I enjoyed an interesting game in which we had to guess the correct name based on the names written backwards in hiragana. By taking on the role of facilitator, I was able to actively communicate with the other participants.
Later, in the "Pair Search Game," participants received a piece of paper with only half of the illustration drawn on it and had to use keywords to find the partner who had the other half. I received an illustration of the second half of an alpaca, and through communication with other participants, I found the partner who had the first half. This activity was very challenging because it required us to cooperate with each other using our teamwork and communication skills, but it also gave us a sense of accomplishment.
Through this exchange event, I had the opportunity to interact not only with other international students, but also with local students and participants from other countries. I am very grateful that I was able to make new friends beyond cultural and language differences. Through these activities, I was able to deepen my understanding of different cultures as well as grow as a person. I will continue to cherish opportunities for international exchange and actively participate in such activities.
