From December 6 (Wed.) to 8 (Fri.), 2023, Hosei University participated in one of the largest exhibitions in Japan, "SDGs Week EXPO 2023 ECOPRO 2023" (hosted by Sustainable Management Promotion Organization, Inc. and Nikkei Inc.) held at Tokyo Big Sight.
SDGs Week EXPO 2023 ECOPRO 2023" was characterized by exhibits from a wide range of fields, including UN agencies, central and local government initiatives, educational and research results from educational institutions, and business activities including innovative technologies and new products and services from companies, all aimed at solving global environmental issues and key SDG issues. The exhibition was blessed with fine weather for all three days, and 66,826 people visited the venue.
The Hosei University Environmental Center's booth introduced its environmental conservation activities using behavioral bias and nudges, as well as its rooftop greening maintenance project, which won the 2021 Chiyoda Biodiversity Award and the Encouragement Award at the 16th Shinjuku Eco One Grand Prix. Each and every one of us delivered our voice to stop the tears of "Ekopin".
On Thursday, December 7, 2023, Naoko Enomoto from Hosei University Environmental Center, Riku Hasegawa, a second-year master's student at Graduate School of Engineering and Design and Daiki Kato, a fourth-year Faculty of Law student, from the Hosei University Rooftop Greening Maintenance Project took the stage at the "Eco-pro 2023: Future in Motion - Young People's Claim and Communication Plaza. The "Green Terrace," which was created in the spring of 2005 as the only remaining garden on the Ichigaya Campus where the university and students collaborate in all processes from planning to maintenance, will serve as a base for activities, and will continue to be a "garden full of attention" for the next ten years, with an awareness of the biotope network in the "outer moat" area and a connection with nature. We have introduced our efforts to create a "beloved garden at Hosei University.
Thank you very much for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit us at SDGs Week EXPO 2023 Eco-pro 2023.
It is said that global warming and other factors are changing the habitats, seasonal activities, migration patterns, abundance, and interactions among species of organisms living on land, freshwater, and marine environments, including forests, on our irreplaceable planet.
In "SDGs Week EXPO 2023 Eco-pro 2023," each and every one of us will deliver our voices for the resolution of global environmental issues and key issues in the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), and with a strong rabbit of love for our alma mater, we believe that the future of our "irreplaceable planet" rests on our own backs. I hope that the day will come when the tears of "Ekopyon," a rabbit with a strong love for his alma mater, who believes that the future of the "irreplaceable earth" rests on his back and is engaged in various activities on the world stage to solve global environmental problems, will stop.
